In 1987, after having returned from a year working with Tops in Blue, I had decided that Del Rio lacked a particular type of musical variety.  There were certain kinds of productions that The Upstagers simply weren't up for, kinds that were more like something you might see in Las Vegas.  And, as is always true with community theatre, not everyone is able to do that sort of performing.  I then set about the task of creating a vocal showcase that included high energy, very precise and intricate harmonies, a lot of choreography, and enough variety to appeal to a wide range of people.  What made this easier was the fact that I had three other prior Tops in Blue members to work with, as well as another long-time Upstager who was up for the challenge.

Our very first production, done as a fund raiser for The Upstagers, was very successful, but we were limited to using background music that we could purchase.  The same was true of the second production we mounted, "Music Magic '89".  With the exception of some great music provided by a great professional performer, the late Blondie Calderon, we had almost completely relied on the rigid nature of someone else's music.

Since that time, I have been able to create customized arrangements, including medleys of any combination we need for a show.  We have been recognized for our work for the Miss Del Rio USA pageant system, Laughlin AFB, the City of Del Rio in its July Fourth productions, and a host of other venues.

Music Magic is always on the look out for performers who have an excellent ear for harmony, are in great shape, and able to handle energetic choreography.  If you think you have what it takes, give us a call!
