Music Magic 4.0 – The Final Chapter

The year 2000.  It’s said that if you’re going to go out, go out with a bang.  That sums up what Music Magic did.  Rob began developing the most ambitious idea yet: A Century Of Song.  Tireless hours of research to select, then arrange and produce memorable songs from 1901 to 2000, culminating a 2-hour extravaganza that was a smashing success.  To pull this off, the group needed to expand the lineup considerably.  Adding the vocal powerhouses of Amy Altemus, Jennifer Montgomery Vega, Brandi Rose and Vincent Todman, along with the return of Bill Culpepper and his wife Gloria, there was no doubt that this production would be the biggest ever.  Audience acclaim was clear, and Music Magic solidly nailed the performances.  Unfortunately, this would be the group’s final significant presentation to the Del Rio community.  Burnout is always a hazard lurking in the shadows, and the hard work, long hours and numerous technical and physical challenges pushed everyone into a much needed–and much deserved–hiatus.  Some members moved away, others found themselves involved in other projects or simply in a change of priorities.  Bill, Gloria, Jennifer, Terra and Rob continued to work on theatrical productions, but the taste for the musical variety that Music Magic brought to Del Rio had finally diminished.  Not a bad 15 year run for a project that started from truly humble beginnings.
